Green Climate Fund (GCF)
●GCF is the world’s largest dedicated fund helping developing countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and enhance their ability to respond to climate change.
●It was set up by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010.
●The Fund is governed by the GCF Board & it is accountable to and functions under the guidance of the COP.
●In 2010, the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC invited the World Bank to serve as interim trustee of the Green Climate Fund.

La Niña
●La Niña is a weather pattern that occurs in the Pacific Ocean.
● In this pattern, strong winds blow warm water at the ocean’s surface from South America to Indonesia.
●As the warm water moves west, cold water from the deep rises to the surface near the coast of South America.
● The name La Niña originates from Spanish, meaning “the little girl”
●La Niña results in heavy or better monsoon rains in India, droughts in Peru and Ecuador, heavy floods in Australia, and high temperatures in the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific.

Gulf of Aden
●The Gulf of Aden also known as the Gulf of Berbera is a deepwater gulf between Yemen to the north, the Arabian Sea to the east, Djibouti to the west, and the Guardafui Channel, Socotra, and Somaliland to the south.
●Basin Countries: Djibouti, Somalia, Yemen.
●The Gulf of Aden is a vital waterway for shipping, especially for Persian Gulf oil, making it an integral waterway in the world economy.

●Approximately 11% of the world’s seaborne petroleum passes through the Gulf of Aden on its way to the Suez Canal or to regional refineries.

Uniform Civil Code
●Uniform Civil Code is a proposal in India to formulate and implement personal laws of citizens that apply to all citizens equally regardless of their religion.
●Currently, the personal laws of various communities are governed by their religious scriptures.
●The code comes under Article 44 of the Constitution, which lays down that the state shall endeavor to secure a Uniform Civil Code for the citizens throughout the territory of India.
